Where your audio actually goes

Every company that touches your audio is EU-owned and EU-based — Hetzner in Germany, Scaleway in France. The whole list is published at /subprocessors/, and it is short.

The AI models run on our own EU servers. No third-party AI service ever sees your files, and your recordings never train models — ours or anyone else's. That's a written commitment in the DPA, not a settings toggle.

Files are encrypted at rest with per-workspace keys. Projects are private to their creator by default — sharing is explicit.

Data minimisation by design

Video never becomes stored footage. From a video file we keep only the audio track — the video is never kept. In modern browsers the sound is extracted on your device before upload, so the video itself never travels; if it can't, the original is converted on our EU servers and deleted the instant the audio is extracted.

Retention is a schedule, not a promise. Audio and transcript are deleted together after 7, 30 or 90 days — or kept until you delete them. Immediate deletion is always one click away, and a failed file's charge refunds itself.

Even search respects the boundary. Search queries are content: never logged, never stored. The search index is built from your words and deleted with the transcript.

Do you sign a data-processing agreement?

Yes — an Art. 28 data-processing agreement is available on request: write to info@toolbox21.com. It includes the written commitment that your recordings are never used to train models.

Where is my audio processed and stored?

On EU-owned, EU-based infrastructure: Hetzner (Germany) and Scaleway (France), publicly listed at akoe.ai/privacy#subprocessors/. Files are encrypted at rest with per-workspace keys.

How does deletion actually work?

Audio and transcript live together and are deleted together — after 7, 30 or 90 days, on the schedule you chose at upload, or the moment you delete them yourself. Backups mirror your live data: deleted files leave the backup within about a minute and cannot be recovered after that.

What do you log?

Not your content. Transcript text and search queries are never logged. Operational logs are content-free, and where your data goes describes the flow in plain language.
